Today, 15 April, marks the start of campfire restrictions in Norway. From now until September we can no longer light a campfire on the ground out in the wild for fear of setting off a larger fire in the surrounding forest. Although Norway is very lush and green from all the rain and snow we get, in the summer months the forest floors become tinder dry and even the smallest spark is enough to ignite a much larger fire that can burn for days and days.
