I've been on a bit of hunt recently for historic recipes and so when I came across this one I was delighted. Even more so because it coincided perfectly with Norwegian Epledagen (apple day) on the last Tuesday in September. However, we don't need a special day to celebrate the apple!
The recipe is from a wonderful Danish book called "Kogebog", (cookbook in English) and is one that many historic cooks know and cherish. The recipes are simple and not so unfamiliar, which is something I love. It's wonderful to look at a recipe that you know has been around for hundreds of years and see a comforting familiarity in it.
