Italiensk Salat, a taste of Norway

Italiensksalat is a popular salad in Norway. It's found on the shelves of every supermarket in various forms and is probably in most Norwegian fridges. Despite its name (Italian salad) italiensk salat is not from Italy. It was named as such because the colours of vegetables in the salad are those of the Italian flag. Some people like to tell a more elaborate history of the salad originating from Moscow but whatever it's story, it's a great salad to have in your repertoire to add to your smørbrød (open sandwich).
