I've been focussing more in the last year on growing perennial vegetables in my kitchen garden. Perennial vegetables are the ones that you don't have to keep replanting every year. They come back again and again like spinach, purple sprouting broccoli, asparagus and Jerusalem artichokes. In my home country of England Jerusalem artichokes are the kind of vegetables that old people grow in allotments (small parcels of land that someone can rent) so it was a joy to find that they are a popular vegetable in Norway. I love going to a market to find them in baskets for sale with the soil still on them and fresh from the ground.
