Velkommen august, Welcome August

Welcome August! And probably the last summer month in the Nordics

Unlike many other parts of the northern hemisphere, in the Nordics as August approches we start to think of the end of the summer. Mamy people have taken their holidays and the start of school is on the horizon. The days are beginning to get shorter again and the flowers are fading. I for one love August here. It's a calmer time when the frenetic energy of summer is beginning to wane and the promise of warm still days still lingers. There is the very real possibility of berry picking and evenings spent outside, nights camping and time spent at the beach. The sea has warmed nicely over the summer and it's just right to swim in. South eastern Norway is lucky to have a sheltered coastline and fjord and so the sea gets armed by the land. By August we can expect sea temperatures of about 22c.
