Shall we start the New Year with something positive? Here goes - perfect is not perfect!
I was on social media a little before I wrote this and I kept seeing an advert for a new Netflix series. It's one hosted by Meghan Markle. Now don't get me wrong I am pretty pro-monarchy and I love that our European royal families are part of our national identities, but this particular show has nothing to do with the British Royal Family. In the first few seconds of the trailer I had a lovely feeling of "oh my goodness, it's so pretty", but it was quickly replaced by a deep worry. The idea of having a perfect home, making faffy, intricate snacks and patisserie that looks like it's just stepped out of the door of Laduree in Paris, is so unrealistic for most of us. We might look at Instagram or Netflix series and feel like these things are realistic or achievable life goals but they are NOT. All of these shows and social media accounts are highly curated and staged. Real life is messier, a bit more chaotic and much more interesting.
